Launch:

Sony has finally launched its Android-powered Tablet S and Tablet P devices in India. The tablets, which are quite late to market, should enjoy significant market attention on account of their quirky looks and cutting-edge hardware.

Masaru Tamagawa, Managing Director of Sony India, said, "Sony Tablet exemplifies our strategy of combining hardware, software and network services. It offers customers a device which meets their demand for seamless, on-the-go access to the internet, digital entertainment content and social networking services." He further added, "the market in India is growing at a very fast pace and we expect the tablet to gain rapid momentum in the near future. At the moment, we want to build a strong business foundation for Tablet."

Tablet P and Tablet S :

Both the Tablet P and the Tablet S are certified Playstation devices, meaning they get access to exclusive Playstation content like Crash Bandicoot and Pinball Heroes – both of which ship aboard the slates as standard.

Other notable stock applications on board the slates are Big Flix, with a two-month free subscription, BollywoodHungama, Meragana and VideoChaska, which should be extremely popular with Indian consumers across the board.

Technical Specifications:

Both devices are Wi-Fi-only at present but 3G variants are expected to land in January 2012.

The Tablet S has a 9.4-inch display and the Tablet P, which is clamshell-shaped in its design and more portable, has a 5.5-inch display. Both are DLNS-enabled and will hook-up with many Sony-branded home appliances. They also share similar imaging capabilities with a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a VGA-quality one the front for video-conferencing.

Tablet P and Tablet S Price in India :

The Sony Tablet S and Tablet P will both launch on Android Honeycomb and there’s been no official word on when they’ll be bumped up to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Also the cost of these tablets are shockingly high, with Tablet S priced at Rs. 29,990 (16GB, Wi-Fi), Rs. 33,990 (16GB,3G+Wi-Fi) and Tablet P priced at Rs. 36,990 (4GB, 3G+Wi-Fi).
