According to The Wall Street Journal, a lawyer representing Apple in a recent hearing against Samsung in Australia, claimed that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringed on Apple’s patents and should be banned from entering the country.
“It must have been as plain as the Opera House to Samsung that the Apple patents were right in front of its eyes and they were wide open,” said Apple lawyer Steven Burley. “They ought to clear the way in advance rather than try to crash through.”
The two tech giants have been at each other’s throats ever since Apple filed a lawsuit against Samsung in the United States, claiming that Samsung ‘slavishly’ copied the designs from Apple’s iPhone and iPad products.
Apart from Australia, the two companies are currently locked in legal battles in Germany, Japan, South Korea and France.
Apple, in Australia, claims that Samsung’s products have the same form factor like Apple products. The lawsuit filed by Apple however, is focused on three patents related to touch screen technology. Samsung claims that the patents are trivial and will not affect the launch of Samsung Galaxy 10.1 in Australia.
