Yogi Vemana University College of Engineering, Proddatur was established in 2008-2009 and renamed as YSR Engineering College of Yogi Vemana University in the year 2010. Calicut University II MBBS Exam Result September 2011

The University of Calicut, the second university to be set up in Kerala, came into being in 1968 with the objective of developing human resources in the northern districts of Kerala by extending the reach of higher education and by promoting research in all areas of development with particular emphasis on technology and art and culture of Kerala.
The University made the beginning by taking into its fold the four postgraduate departments set up by the University of Kerala at Calicut and 54 constituent colleges spread across seven northern districts. With ‘Nirmaya Karmana Sree’ as it motto, the University has surmounted challenges to emerge as the largest residential cum affiliating University in Kerala. Its 31 post graduate departments and 304 affiliated colleges have now become a veritable light house beckoning lakhs of young men and women to benefit from higher education.

he University campus, located at Tenhipalam in Malappuram district, 24 km south of Calicut city, is the main hub of academic activities. In addition to the office of the Vice-Chancellor, the University administration, Pareeksha Bhavan, School of Distance Education, Academic Staff College, Educational Multimedia Research Centre, Computer Centre, University Library and other central support and service units, housed on the campus are 21 post graduate departments of teaching and research. These are the Departments of Arabic, Botany, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Commerce & Management Studies, Education, English, Hindi, History, Mass Communication & Journalism, Life Science, Library and Information Science, Malayalam, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Physical Education, Psychology, Russian, Sanskrit, Statistics, and Zoology.
Extention Centres
The University has set up extension centres at Thrissur, Calicut and Vatakara. The centre at Thrissur is named after the renowned economist late Dr. John Mathai. Located here are the Department of Economics and the School of Drama & Fine Arts. Courses in Health Sciences and Costume and Fashion Design are conducted at Calicut Centre. The University Students’ Centre is also located in Calicut .

At the Vatakara Centre, the University has set up two post graduate departments of studies and research. These are: the Centre for Folk Lore Studies and the Kunjali Marakkar Centre for West Asian Studies.

To reach out to students closer to their homes, the University has set up Teacher Education Centres and Information Centres in all the five districts under its jurisdiction.
New Initiatives

Besides restructuring the graduate and post-graduate courses, the University has introduced integrated M.Phil/Ph.D programme from 2004-05 academic year. To meet the demand for the trained in the emerging areas, the University has launched new programmes in computer application & information technology, health sciences, fashion design, social work, printing technology, computer hardware and automobile engineering. Yet another effort in this direction is the establishment of the University Institute of Engineering Technology close to the main campus. The Institute offers B.Tech courses in electronics and communication, printing technology, electrical and electronics and IT streams.

Frontier lectures by renowned scholars and scientists, modernization of laboratories, upgradation of internet facility in the University library and post-graduate departments and computerisation of University examination are the other recent initiatives.
Colleges

As many as 304 colleges are affiliated to the University. Of these, 83 are located in Kozhikode district, 72 in Thrissur, 82 in Malappuram, 50 in Palakkad and 10 in Wayanad district.

The breakup in terms for the subjects of study is: 123 Arts and Science Colleges, 61 Training Colleges, 30 Engineering/Technical Colleges, 7 Medical Colleges, 3 Para Medical College, 6 Ayurveda Colleges, 2 Law Colleges, 23 Atabic/Oriental Title Colleges, 11 I. H. R. D. centres, 4 Management Studies Colleges, 1 Music College, 1 Fine Arts College, 1 College of Physical Education,20 Nursing colleges, 7 Dental Colleges, 9 Pharmacy colleges, 1 Homoeopathy college and 2 colleges for Hotel Management. As many as 88 colleges, offer both graduate and post graduate courses in various subjects.

The impressive scenario of colleges owes much to the enthusiasm of private educational organizations, which own over 182 colleges. The remaining are run by the State Government. These 297 colleges have an annual sanctioned intake-capacity of nearly 70,000.

History and Present Infrastructure
Panjab University has a long tradition of pursuing excellence in teaching and research in science and technology, humanities, social sciences, performing arts and sports. The University supports excellence and innovation in academic programmes. Promotes excellence in research, scholarship and teaching and is committed to attracting and supporting the best students and recruiting faculty who excel at teaching and research. For more than a century, it has served various societal needs with distinction. The glorious traditions of the University established during the period of more than 129 years of its long service to the nation and since its inception in 1882 at Lahore (now in Pakistan), are a source of inspiration for the present generation of faculty members and students. By virtue of its age, experience, achievements and philosophy, the Panjab University is a University of national character and stature, in so far as it has drawn both its faculty and students from all over the country and abroad. Its faculty includes some of the most distinguished scientists and academicians in arts and humanities. The University continues to attract celebrated scholars from abroad to visit and interact with the faculty and students. Over the years the reputation of Panjab University has grown into one of innovative teaching research and community outreach.

After the partition in 1947, the University was constrained to function for almost a decade without having a campus of its own. The administrative office was located at Solan and the teaching departments functioned from Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Delhi and Amritsar. It was in 1956 that the University was relocated at Chandigarh. Its red sandstone campus, designed by renowned French architects, came up within a few years. Pierre Jeanerette designed the University campus under the general guidance of the legendary Le Corbusier. Till the re-organisation of Punjab in 1966, the University had its regional centers at Rohtak, Shimla, Jalandhar and its affiliated colleges were located in the states of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and U.T. of Chandigarh.

With the re-organisation of Punjab, the University became an Inter-State Body Corporate catering to the newly organised states of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and U.T. of Chandigarh. Gradually, the colleges of Himachal and Haryana were affiliated to the universities in the respective states and the Panjab University was left with the affiliated colleges in U.T. of Chandigarh and some parts of Punjab. Presently, the U.T. administration of Chandigarh and the State Govt. of Punjab share the maintenance deficit of the University in the ratio of 60:40, respectively.

The annual budget estimates of the University amount to Rs. 347.28 crores for 2011-2012.

Panjab University, with its 65 teaching and research departments besides 15 centres/chairs for the teaching and research on the main campus located at Chandigarh, has more than 192 affiliated/constituent colleges spread over Punjab and Chandigarh, Regional Centres at Muktsar, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, Kauni. Vishveshawaranand Vishva Bandhu Institute of Sanskrit and Indological Studies (VVBIS&IS) at Hoshiarpur.

The Campus
The main campus at Chandigarh is spread over 550 acres in sectors 14 and 25, and having fairly well-marked zones: the teaching area in the north-east, with the Central Library, Fine Arts Museum, and three-winged structure of the Gandhi Bhawan forming its core; the sports complex, the health centre, and the shopping centre in the middle; 16 university hostel and residential area in the south-east, stretching into the adjacent sector 25 which also houses the newly developing University Institute of Engineering and Technology and Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of dental Sciences and Hospital, UIAMS, Institute of Biological sciences etc.

As a self sustaining township, the University campus has other amenities like the State bank of India, Post and Telegraph Office, public transport system, open air theatre, guest and faculty houses, seminar complexes, staff club, several spacious lawns, botanical and medicinal herbs gardens, a newly laid rose garden, a school and a day-care centre for the employees' children. The campus is adjacent to the premier medical institution of the northern region known as the P.G.I. (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research). The teaching departments, students' hostels, faculty residences and other amenities are all within distance of one another.

Teaching Departments
The 65 departments, 15 centres/chairs on the campus and 4 Regional centers are grouped under the faculties of Arts, Science, languages, law, education and Fine Arts, Business management and Commerce, Engineering and Technology, Medical Sciences, and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Most departments have their own specialized libraries, and the working period runs for at least 180 days.

Constant in approach to make this Institution of higher learning a globally competitive leader, while discarding the obsolete and not so popular courses, the University introduced new courses during the last academic session, prominent among which include M.B.A. in U.I.A.M.S., B.E. The Director of Public Instruction (D.P.I.) used to head the Technical Education also at the time of formation of Andhra Pradesh. To help speed up the process of development of Technical Education, a Board in the name and style of “STATE BOARD OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING” was created vide G.O.Ms.No.371 Edn-dated 26.2.1957. The Joint Director (Technical Education) of DPI used to act as secretary of this newly formed Board. The Board is formed as a statutory body under the A.P. Education Act-1982 (act 1 of 1982), an act of assembly, in the present form, vide G.O.Ms.No.140 dated 24.4.1984. In accordance with the powers conferred by Sub-Sections (1) and (2) of Section 6 read with Sub-Section (1) of Section 99 of the said Act, the Government of Andhra Pradesh have established a Board of Technical Education "The State Board of Technical Education & Training, Andhra Pradesh" in G.O.Ms.No.140, dated 24-4-1984. The Board had came into existence from 1st June 1984.

Dr. NTR University Of Health Sciences First MBBS Results Jan/Feb 2012

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has the distinction of establishing the first University of Health Sciences fulfilling the recommendations of several committees.Thus the “Andhra Pradesh University of Health Sciences” was established by the Act.No. 6 of the Andhra Pradesh legislature and was inaugurated on 9-4-1986 by the late Sri N.T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.The University of Health Sciences started functioning at Vijayawada from 01-11-1986. After the death of its founder Sri N.T. Rama Rao the University was named after him as NTR University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh with effect from 2.2.98 vide Act No.4 of 1998.
The University was established with the objectives of
To improve the standards of Medical Education including Research
By conducting a common entrance examination to the courses in all the institutions affiliated thereto;
By implementing uniform curriculum in all courses
The University office was temporarily accommodated in the Siddhartha Medical College building and functioned in that limited space till March, 2002. In April, 2002 it moved into its building which is having spacious accommodation for the office and staff, and waiting area for students and other visitors. Separate counters for admissions, examinations etc., are provided in the hall. There is a library and computer center from where the library network is operated. Guest house facility is available with different categories of accommodation for the faculty, examiners etc. The Examination section is housed in a separate area with special security. Because of electronically controlled access, the examination section is accessible only to authorized staff and officers working in the section. Bio-metric Electronic Attendance recording is also installed.

The University is governed by the Executive Council, the Finance Committee, the Boards of Studies, the Academic Senate and the Planning Board. The University has Graduate, Post-Graduate Degree and Diploma and Super Specialty courses in Modern Medicine, Graduate and PG Degrees Courses in Dental Surgery, Nursing, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani, Graduate degree courses in Naturopathy, Physiotherapy and Medical Lab Technology and PG course in M.Sc.Applied Nutrition.

The total number of colleges affiliated to the University at the time of its establishment was 27. Now the affilated colleges has now gone up to 184.

The Degrees awarded by the University are recognized by the Statutory bodies like the Medical Council of India , the Dental Council of India, the Central Council of Indian Medicine and the Central Council of Homoeopathy and Indian Nursing Council .

MOU: The University has a MOU with the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIUSOM) Springfield. Illinois, USA. As a part of the MOU a highly successful International Conference on Medical Education and Technology was held in January, 2002 in collaboration with the SIUSOM. Further, as a follow up to that, workshops have been conducted in several Medical Colleges in which the faculty participated with great enthusiasm, and derived great benefit.

As a part of the MOU three members of the faculty have been given a placement in that University for training in Medical Education Technology under an ECFMG-FAIMER Fellowship.

NTR University of Health Sciences is conducting interactive Programme on Research Methodology which will focus on Medical Research with the following objectives:
Identify the potential areas for research in their field of specialization
Effectively guide the research scholars in the preparation of project proposals, monitor the research project work and guide them in successful completion of research project.
The University has introduced Ph.D. Courses for those having PG degree in subjects of Modern Medicine and is planning to start the same in Unani and Nursing faculties soon.

In the faculty of Modern Medicine even the students possessing MBBS, M.Sc. Medical Sciences or M.Sc. Science groups of pre clinical and para clinical subjects may be considered for admission to Ph.D. based on performance in an Entrance Examination specifically conducted for the purpose.The qualifying marks shall be 60% since this provision is intended only to encourage the excellent candidates without MD, MS, DM or M.Ch. degree to pursue research in the field of Modern Medicine. For other than in-service candidates a grant of fellowship from CSIR, NET, ICMR, UGC etc. is a pre requisite. Duration of the Ph.D. course will be two years for candidates with MD, MS, DM or M.Ch. degree, while it will be 4 years for candidates having M.Sc. and MBBS 3 years for candidates having M.Phil.
