What is MeeGo?
Basically, MeeGo is a mobile OS introduced by a joint venture of Intel and Nokia.It is an an open-source Linux project which brings together the Moblin project, headed up by Intel, and Maemo, by Nokia, into a single open-source activity. It includes performance optimisations and features which enable the development of computational and graphically oriented applications and connected services, support for Internet standards, easy-to-use development environment based on Qt, and state-of-the-art Linux stack optimised for the size and capabilities of small footprint platforms and mobile devices. MeeGo currently targets platforms such as netbooks and entry-level desktops, handheld computing and communications devices, in-vehicle infotainment devices, connected TVs, and media phones.

What's in the news?
First Nokia kicked MeeGo to the curb, and now Intel has scorned it too. Instead, the chipmaker's attentions have now turned to Tizen, an open source mobile OS that focuses on HTML5 support. The company sees the future in HTML5, and Tizen was the way to go. In the next couple months, Intel will work to make sure MeeGo developers can get through the transition.

Tizen is yet another mobile OS,that combines the best open source technologies from LiMo and The Linux Foundation and includes HTML5 based web development environment, which most of the developers think the future.
What's in the news about Tizen?
As soon as Intel planned to drop out MeeGo,it does not want to lose all its efforts on MeeGo. Thus it started its search for a new partner and got Samsung as the one. Thus born the new Mobile OS, Tizen.
With the help of Linux Foundation and Limo Foundation, Tizen has evolved with the new technology HTML5 as its power to beat others. Yes, Tizen applications will be based on HTML5!But will be backward compatible with existing MeeGo applications. Intel is planning to use their AppUp Center for supplying apps for Tizen.
